Community Playground Build THIS SUNDAY from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Final reminder – the Community Playground Build Day is this Sunday, May 20th, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thank you to the 60+ volunteers who signed up for a shift that day – and for those who have offered to help pour concrete on Monday morning! If you have not yet signed up for a shift and would like to do so, please contact Jeff Seewald (jeff.seewald@gmail.com) or Marc Roth (marcdroth@hotmail.com) by the end of the day on Friday, May 18.

For all volunteers – please remember that safety is of paramount importance!

  • Wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and work gloves.
  • Wear safety glasses or goggles on site. We will provide protective eyewear for those that do not bring their own.
  • Due to safety and liability concerns, no people under the age of 18 are allowed on the construction site at any time. The Sabes JCC is offering children’s activities (and babysitting for pre-school age kids) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please contact Marc or Jeff to reserve a spot.

We ask that volunteers bring tools to use. Here is a list of the most critical items with the minimum required in parentheses:

  • Wheelbarrows (8)
  • Shovels (8)
  • 3/8 in. drive sockets and wrenches – 9/16 and 1/4 are the most needed sizes (8)
  • Allen wrenches
  • Tape measures (8)
  • Hand levels (8)
  • Step ladders (6)
  • Vise grips (8)
  • Utility knives (8)
  • Cordless power drills (8)
  • Hammers (10)
  • Post hole digger (1)

Lunch will be available FREE to volunteers, and for $5 for everyone else, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.

Finally, a HUGE thank you to our co-captains, Marc Roth and Jeff Seewald, for making this project a success!
